Days after the firing at a wine shop in Manesar, which killed one and injured two persons, the alleged mastermind of the shooting was arrested on Monday, the police said on Tuesday.
The arrested accused, Dayaram Nehra (49), is the father of gangster Lipin Nehra.
Lipin had allegedly called and threatened the wine shop owners to transfer The Discovery Wine shop at Panchgaon Chowk to his father. He had also threatened the owners of dire consequences, the complainant told the police.
A team of Crime Branch Manesar arrested Dayaram and during the interrogation, the police came across five charges against him, including murder, attempted murder, loot, assault/fight and possessing/sale of illegal liquor. “All these charges are still pending before the court,” the police said in a statement.
On Friday, a customer was killed in the firing and two others were injured after two men opened fire around 8.30 pm. On Sunday, the police had managed to arrest 21-year-old Rohit Gadaria, a resident of Ghaziabad, who was allegedly involved in the shooting.
The police said that in a bid to exert pressure and establish his supremacy in the business in the region, Lipin allegedly sent his men to threaten the wine shop owners. “Under the directions of Lipin, the gunmen were allegedly asked to carry out similar incidents in Faridabad, Rewari and Pataudi,” the police said.
After Gadaria’s arrest, DCP (crime) Vijay Pratap had said, “Lipin was giving instructions from Canada and had sent messages from there. Lipin also allegedly has a connection with the murder of Sidhu Moosewala. He works with Goldy Brar.”
