Leo star Vijay gets featured on Times Square Billboard. See video

From pouring milk over gigantic cut-outs to building temples for their favourite stars, fans down South make a show out of their fandom. Now, in one such exhibition of ardent fandom, fans of Vijay from Canada have ensured their star gets featured on the Times Square Billboard in New York. The billboard featured clips and stills from Vijay’s films with birthday wishes as the actor is turning 49 on June 22.

The fans are part of Canada Vijay Makkal Iyyakkam. The members of the fan club took to social media to share a video from Times Square with the raging background score from Vijay’s Master. Sharing the video, a fan from Canada, wrote, “Happy & proud to feature @actorvijay Anna on the prestigious Times Square Billboard @ New York City to kick start birthday celebrations for #Thalapathy by @CanadaVMI 😍😍😍#HBDThalapathyvijay (sic).”

The gesture has become a huge hit among fans, who have made the clip viral on social media.

Only recently, Vijay hosted an event to honour all the toppers of the 10th and 12th standards of every constituency of Tamil Nadu. At the event, Vijay asked students to read about Tamil leaders. “Till the extent possible, read about everything, read about leaders like Ambedkar, Periyar, Kamaraj. Take what’s good and leave the rest,” he said. The event has left people wondering whether the actor is soon going to enter politics.

Meanwhile, Vijay is busy with his upcoming film Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Also starring Trisha, Sanjay Dutt, and Gautham Vasudev Menon, the film is set to be released on October 19. Vijay will then team up with director Venkat Prabhu for a project.
