A female lawyer in Surat Tuesday filed a police complaint against the director-producer of the recently released movie, Adipurush, for hurting the religious sentiments of crores of people.
Advocate Sonal Sharma, in her complaint lodged at the Umra police station, states that director Om Raut has “wrongly” depicted the costumes, used “fake” dialogues and characters in the movie based on the Hindu epic Ramayana.
“India is rich in culture and through this movie, director Om Raut has used religion as a medium of entertainment for money. By doing this, he has hurt the religious sentiments of the Hindu community members,” the complaint reads.
“If no action is taken against the director and if the movie continues to be screened, it would create a bad impression on the future generations about Hindu gods and goddesses,” it states.
Sharma also demanded to slap a huge penalty on the makers of the movie “so that nobody in the future should dare to make such a movie”. “If no action is taken by the police, we will fight legally,” she told The Indian Express.
Umra police inspector A H Rajput said a case has not been registered yet, but the police are going through the details of the complaint. “Currently, it is difficult to say anything. We are working on it,” he said.
