Apple has expanded its self-repair program to its latest products — the iPhone 14 series and the M2-powered Macs. As part of this self-service repair program, Apple now offers spare parts, tools, and service manuals to users in select countries such as the US, UK, Italy, and more. The company will sell spare parts for these devices starting June 21 and will also release a system configuration tool at a later date to help users to verify if the repair has gone as expected.
Apple began its self-repair program in 2022, starting with models like the iPhone 12, iPhone 13, iPhone SE, and then added select Macs to support right-to-repair movement. Under this program, Apple provides all the necessary spare parts for users to perform self-repairs on these devices, along with a detailed guide.
Users who wish to repair their own iPhones and Macs can send a request to Apple for the required components such as the display, battery, camera module, and more. Apple will then ship these parts to the user, and users can also return the damaged parts to Apple to receive an additional discount on spares.
Currently, Apple does not support a self-repair program in India. However, it has stated its intention to add more markets to the program in the coming days. Similarly, other tech brands like Samsung and Google are also joining the self-repair program. Unlike Apple, these two brands have partnered with iFixit to provide spare parts and repair manuals to interested users.
