The State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) of the Punjab Police has arrested two youths for alleged drug trafficking and illegal possession of arms. The accused are also said to be among the five assailants who fired at a man on May 7, in Sector 79. For this incident, a case was registered at Sohana police station but the accused were not arrested.
The accused have been identified as Gurpreet alias Gora, a resident of Moga and Rohit Singh, a resident of Ganganagar in Rajasthan. A case has been registered against the two at the SSOC police station.
They were produced before a duty magistrate and remanded to three days police custody. Both the accused were allegedly involved in drug and weapon smuggling from across the border.
Gora is said to be a Punjabi singer and has sung few songs; he was also booked in a drug smuggling case in the past.
The district police are also planning to bring both the accused on production warrants once the SSOC completes their interrogation in connection with the drug smuggling.
