An office-bearer of the Chief Minister Ekanth Shinde-led Shiv Sena died of heart attack on Monday at a hotel where he had returned after attending the party function in Goregaon to mark the 57th foundation day of Shiv Sena.
Dhiraj Rajurkar, taluka pramukh of Shinde Sena from Amaravati, had come to Mumbai to attend the event.
A Sena functionary said that Rajurkar had returned to the hotel room after the event and was talking to his friends when he suddenly suffered a massive heart attack.
He was rushed to the hospital by party workers, but was declared dead on arrival by the doctors.
After learning about the incident, CM Shinde reached GT hospital in South Mumbai on Tuesday evening and paid his last respects to Dhiraj Rajurkar. Shinde announced that the party will take of his family and other responsibilities.
“Shiv Sena is a family and every member is important to us. Dhiraj’s sudden death is a shock to all of us. He was doing a great job , following every order given by the party but unfortunately time attacked him,” Shinde said.
