After its defeat in Karnataka, the BJP appears to be struggling to get on its feet as an opposition party in the state. Many in the central leadership say that the BJP is yet to get credible voices from its Karnataka unit to ensure that the party acts as an aggressive opposition against the Siddaramaiah-led Congress government in the state. While the Congress has accused the Centre of “conspiring” to derail its poll promises by stopping the sale of rice and wheat under the central pool, the state BJP’s defence has been weak, party leaders said, adding that the BJP is yet to get a leader with gravitas to take on the Congress government. Not only in the elections, veteran B S Yeddiyurappa is being missed by the BJP even now as an opposition party. The party leadership is now determined to zero in some leaders who would be trained to put up an aggressive face in Karnataka.
