Developed by David Benioff and DB Weiss, the creators of Game of Thrones, 3 Body Problem, based on Liu Cixin’s acclaimed novel of the same name, is set to premiere on Netflix in January 2024.
According to reports, 3 Body Problem tells the story of an alien invasion that spans decades. In the background of the 107-second promo video, a character’s voiceover echoes, sharing profound thoughts: “As children, we fear the dark. Anything might be out there. The unknown troubles us. There are those who say we should not inquire too closely into who else might be living in that darkness. Better not to know.”
As the teaser reaches its climax, the character’s voiceover declares, “But we continue to search. Life looks for life,” coinciding with breathtaking visuals and heart-pounding sequences, offering a tantalising final glimpse into the captivating world of 3 Body Problem.
Starring John Bradley, Eiza Gonzalez, Liam Cunningham, Saamer Usmani, Jess Hong, Jovan Adepo, Sea Shimooka, Rosalind Chao, and Benedict Wong, among others, 3 Body Problem’s production began in 2021.
Liu Cixin’s The Three-Body Problem was originally serialised in Science Fiction World in 2006 and published as a standalone book in 2008. The book was originally supposed to be adapted into a film.
